The purpose of the role is to lead and coordinate the definition of business requirements for all strategic transformation and re-platforming initiatives across the Equity Derivatives franchise. The role holder will act as the primary front to back point of contact between Equity Derivatives Trading, Structuring and Sales, Front Office Quantitative Research, Front Office IT and Platform/Product Owners. They will ensure that target state models and processes are clearly specified, are aligned with the commercial strategy of the business, and meet risk, control and regulatory expectations while materially reducing time to market for new products and initiatives.

The role encompasses the ownership of front to back business requirements (from idea to production), the design and prioritization of the transformation and re-platforming initiatives. Examples of such initiatives include Business Trading System demises/migrations, regulatory capital models rollout and optimization (B2.5/IMA/SA Trading book capital Models, Credit Risk models) and ensuring downstream consumers requirements are well onboarded (Product Control, Traded Risk, Finance).

Responsibilities

  • Strategic transformation and re-platforming: Own the business requirements definition for all strategic transformation and re-platforming topics impacting Equity Derivatives (e.g. pricing/risk platforms, booking and lifecycle, data and reporting stacks). Where appropriate this could impact Global Equities Business for changes spanning across Equity Derivatives and Prime Finance.
  • Lead front to back requirements gathering workshops with Trading, Structuring, Sales, Front Office Quants, Front Office IT and Product Owners to translate business strategy and regulatory change into clear, actionable specifications.
  • Develop and maintain a clear consensus on target state and workflow for each major initiative.
  • Prioritize and sequence requirements in partnership with FO quants and IT, aligning the transformation roadmap to commercial priorities, risk considerations and delivery capacity.
  • Ensure that re-platforming initiatives explicitly address legacy pain points, technical debt, scalability and performance requirements, and are consistent with MSS and Group standards.

Front Office partnership (Trading, Structuring, Sales, Quants, FO IT):

  • Work closely with Equity Derivatives traders and structurers to identify opportunities to improve pricing, risk management, life cycle management and client experience through platform and process change.
  • Partner with Front Office Quants to translate model and analytics requirements (new products, pay offs, risk measures, calibration approaches) into detailed business and functional requirements for implementation.
  • Collaborate with Front Office IT to ensure requirements are technically feasible, clearly understood, and appropriately decomposed into deliverables and releases.
  • Provide Product Owners with a clear articulation of business value, client impact and risk reduction for each requirement, supporting prioritization and investment decisions.

Delivery, testing and change adoption:

  • Act as key business representative & SME for selected front to back platforms, ensuring the release plans remain tightly aligned to business requirements.
  • Coordinate end to end testing and sign off (including model validation, P&L / risk reconciliation, regression testing for new or re-platformed capabilities.
  • Track and communicate delivery status, risks and issues to senior stakeholders across Front Office, Technology, Product Control, Risk, Operations and Compliance.

Product and model enhancement:

  • Drive the design and implementation of new products and features by working with Equities quant teams to strengthen models, analytics and calibration, while clearly documenting associated business requirements.
  • Support trading in the risk management of existing and new product sets by ensuring that requirements explicitly cover risk representation, hedging workflows, P&L explain, and capital / RWA impacts.
  • Improve the quality and robustness of quantitative metrics for the desk, including VaR, counterparty credit risk metrics and FRTB SA/IMA metrics and reserve processes, by incorporating them as explicit requirements in transformation and re-platforming work.

Commercial impact and client value:

  • Generate sustainable incremental client revenues by ensuring that platform and process changes materially enhance the product set, pricing and risk management capabilities, and reduce time to market.
  • Ensure that client, sales and trading needs (including automation, customization and reporting) are reflected in business requirements for each major initiative.

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements):

  • Ensure the fair treatment of customers is at the heart of all decision making, both personally and within the team, including in the design of new platforms, products and processes.
  • Adhere to our client’s risk policies and procedures, including timely notification and escalation of any concerns, and proactive follow up on points raised by internal audit and external regulators.
  • Act within the Group’s Three Lines of Defence framework, understanding the role of the desk and change function in identifying, managing and mitigating operational and conduct risks in day to day activity and in strategic change programmes.

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements):

  • Adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls, embedding relevant control requirements directly into business requirements and solution design.
  • Implement the Group compliance policy by following all relevant processes and procedures, keeping appropriate records, and ensuring timely remediation of internal and external audit findings and regulatory issues.

Conduct:

  • Lead by example in demonstrating our client’s conduct values and behaviours in daily activities and in the management of transformation and re-platforming programmes.
  • Foster a culture of transparent communication, challenge and escalation across Trading, Structuring, Quants, IT and support functions.

Certifications, qualifications and experience:

  • Strong experience in Equity Derivatives (Trading, Structuring, Quantitative Research, or Product role) with demonstrable involvement in strategic change or re-platforming programmes.
  • Proven track record of owning and formalizing business requirements for complex front to back system and process changes, ideally in a Front Office or e-trading environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with Front Office Quants, Front Office IT, Product Owners and support functions, aligning multiple stakeholders around a clear target state and delivery roadmap.
  • Relevant academic background (e.g. quantitative discipline, engineering, computer science, finance) and/or professional qualifications appropriate to the mandate.
