We are seeking a C# Proximity Developer to join the Global Markets Commodities (GMC) IT team. The role focuses on delivering flexible, scalable, and tailored front-office applications, primarily supporting trading, sales, and structuring, while also providing tools for middle office, back office, and trade support teams where required. The team plays a key role in designing and implementing a resilient and scalable information system for GMC, working closely with global IT, business, and operational stakeholders. As part of the GMC IT function, the role adheres to established governance and development standards.
You will:
- Develop and deliver front‑office proximity applications in C# aligned to business needs
- Gather and analyse user requirements, translating them into functional and technical specifications
- Propose and evaluate multiple solution options to support informed decision‑making
- Implement, deliver, and maintain robust and scalable solutions
- Provide ongoing support, documentation, and continuous improvements (bug fixing, enhancements)
- Make recommendations on architecture, technologies, and system design
- Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and escalate where necessary
- Follow and contribute to global development standards, methodologies, and procedures
- Collaborate closely with Quants, MOA, MOE, and other IT/business teams
- Ensure compliance with internal governance and regulatory requirements
Additionally, you can also:
- Identify and lead new proximity development initiatives, including innovative solutions and tooling
- Support for new products and business activities
- Efficiency improvements and automation
- Provide training and knowledge sharing within the team
Reporting & Governance:
- Provide regular updates to management on project progress and delivery
- Participate in annual performance reviews and ongoing engagement with the Head of Proximity Development
You will have:
- Strong experience in C# (object‑oriented programming)
- Experience with architectural patterns (e.g. N‑tier, MVVM)
- Strong knowledge of web technologies (REST APIs, WPF, Angular)
- Familiarity with frameworks such as Prism, Unity, Spring, Castle
- Experience integrating pricing libraries and tools used by trading desks
- Strong interest in Global Markets / Commodities
- Experience within Financial Markets (Commodities preferred: oil, gas, power)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work in a front‑office, fast‑paced environment
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
Your product & risk knowledge will include:
- Good understanding of derivatives (listed and OTC)
- Knowledge of linear and non‑linear risk
- Understanding of options and Greeks (first and second order, including cross‑gamma, vega, volga)
- Familiarity with implied volatility (curves, smiles)
- Experience with curve construction and publishing (linear and composite curves)
- Ability to support onboarding of new products into trading systems
