We’re working with a growing, international technology business at a pivotal stage of its scale-up journey. With a high-performing team of around 40 people and ambitious growth plans, the company is now seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Platform) to strengthen its infrastructure foundations and support the next phase of scale.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this is a senior technical leadership role focused on platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence. While not a people management position, it carries significant influence across engineering and plays a central role in how systems are designed, delivered, and operated.

What you’ll be doing

  • Platform leadership & reliability
    • Owning the reliability, scalability, and health of production systems
    • Leading improvements across CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud environments
    • Driving observability, incident response, and operational best practice
    • Ensuring platform foundations support continued growth and delivery speed
  • Technical direction & architecture
    • Partnering with the VP of Engineering on key architectural decisions
    • Guiding platform and infrastructure patterns across the engineering function
    • Helping the team make pragmatic trade-offs between speed, resilience, and complexity
    • Embedding best practice in cloud infrastructure and system design
  • Operational excellence & delivery
    • Contributing hands-on through code and end-to-end problem ownership
    • Enhancing developer experience and internal tooling
    • Supporting scaling and capacity planning across AWS environments
    • Enabling product engineers to ship quickly and safely
  • Collaboration & influence
    • Mentoring engineers and raising technical standards
    • Leading through code reviews and technical discussions
    • Acting as a bridge between platform and product engineering

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time in DevOps, SRE, or platform roles
  • Strong experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, CDK)
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD, observability, and production reliability
  • Experience designing and scaling distributed systems
  • Broad technical depth across infrastructure and application layers
  • Influence built on credibility and trust rather than authority
  • Clear communication and pragmatic decision-making
  • Hands-on, improvement-focused, and team-oriented

What you’ll get

  • A senior technical leadership role in a business entering its next growth phase
  • High visibility across engineering and executive leadership
  • Real influence over platform architecture and system reliability
