Data Centre Shift Engineer – Birmingham – Permanent - £40,000-£45,000

We are working with a European data centre operator that is rapidly expanding its footprint across the continent, focusing on edge computing infrastructure that brings digital services closer to end-users. This company is building a network of sustainable, low-latency data centres and currently has projects in Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior point of contact for on-site operations, ensuring continuity and adherence to processes during shifts.
  • Oversee daily activities, including equipment maintenance, system checks, and customer support tasks.
  • Coordinate with teams and contractors to ensure timely task completion and resolve operational issues.
  • Perform hybrid tasks involving engineering and ITC operations, including monitoring and maintaining critical infrastructure systems (e.g., power, cooling, and network).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, escalating complex problems when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, and networking.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to address both technical and operational challenges.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage site operations effectively.
