We are seeking a Technical Operations Engineer with deep experience in Linux and Python to join a critical systems team. This is a high-impact role supporting and evolving the firm’s real-time trading infrastructure in partnership with traders, developers, and other technologists.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, monitor, and support the firm’s electronic trading systems with a focus on performance, uptime, and operational stability
- Collaborate closely with development teams to drive improvements in trading system functionality and reliability
- Design and implement automation tools to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency across infrastructure processes
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving networking, custom applications, and hardware systems
- Execute infrastructure and configuration changes within a global change management framework
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage and rapid response to production issues
- Work across teams and stakeholders to align technical operations with business needs
Required Experience & Skills
- Degree in STEM subject preferred
- Expertise in Linux systems administration and troubleshooting
- Proficient in Python scripting for automation and infrastructure tooling
- Strong grasp of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, UDP, and multicast
- Confident handling issues across hardware, software, and network layers
- Proven experience supporting mission-critical, low-latency systems in a production environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and build trust with both technical and trading teams
- Strong initiative, ownership mindset, and attention to operational detail
- Effective multitasker able to operate under pressure and prioritize in real time
Nice to have
- Background in electronic or algorithmic trading environments
- Familiarity with Grafana or other monitoring/visualization tools
- Experience using Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket)
- Exposure to Windows Server/Active Directory environments
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in enterprise environments
