Quant Capital is partnering with a high-performance trading firm looking for a senior infrastructure engineer to take ownership of a core virtualisation and storage estate. This is a senior hands-on role for someone who can keep a live environment running properly while also helping define what the next generation of the platform should look like.
You’ll be brought in to manage a mature production setup, improve its resilience and efficiency, and lead the technical work around future platform decisions. That includes evaluating replacement technologies, running proofs of concept, building migration plans, and driving change without disrupting critical systems.
The role:
- Take ownership of the firm’s virtualisation and storage platforms in production
- Maintain high standards across uptime, performance, capacity and operational stability
- Assess new technologies and help shape long-term platform strategy
- Run technical evaluations and proof-of-concept work across infrastructure options
- Plan and deliver storage and virtualisation migrations with minimal operational risk
- Build automation and internal tooling to improve scalability and reduce manual support
- Work closely with other engineering teams on platform design and integration
What they’re looking for:
- 10+ years of hands-on Linux infrastructure engineering experience in production environments
- Strong background in virtualisation, with deep expertise in KVM-based platforms, VMWare or similar
- Solid understanding of large-scale compute resource management, performance tuning and high availability
- Strong enterprise storage experience, including SAN environments and storage protocols
- Exposure to software-defined storage platforms
- Good automation skills in Python, Golang or similar
- Able to take ownership of technically complex projects and move them forward independently
- Clear communicator with strong judgement and a practical, engineering-led mindset
This is a good fit for someone who wants to own core infrastructure, not just improving what’s already there, and helping decide what comes next in an environment where stability and performance actually matter. All applications are handled in strict confidence.
