Quant Capital is working with a leading global quantitative trading firm to find a Datacentre Operations Engineer to join their London infrastructure team. This hands-on role supports the physical infrastructure behind a low-latency trading platform, including servers, switches, and structured cabling across multiple colocation sites.

You’ll work closely with internal teams and external vendors, handling hardware deployment, Linux OS installation, network troubleshooting, and rack-level diagnostics.

Responsibilities:
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, switches, and structured cabling
  • Build and upgrade rack infrastructure, including power and cooling planning
  • Install and configure Linux operating systems for production networks
  • Troubleshoot dark fibre connectivity and hardware issues
  • Coordinate third-party access, RMAs, deliveries, and cross-connects
  • Maintain documentation, inventory, and data centre standards
  • Support physical layer troubleshooting and hardware escalations
  • Travel to local and remote colocation sites as required
Required Experience:
  • Proven data centre experience, ideally in colocation or trading environments
  • Practical Linux system administration and OS installation skills
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling (copper and fibre) and rack design
  • Understanding of routing and switching (BGP, L2/L3)
  • Experience with hardware components including NICs, SSDs, FPGAs, GPUs, and transceivers
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and manage vendors and logistics
  • Willingness to cover weekends and holidays on a rota
