How the role will make an impact: The Category Manager will build on an existing category strategy which is focussed on maximising product profitability. Ensuring a fit for purpose product range across hardware, through market evaluation, customer needs assessment and product hierarchy strategies.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Review & evolve an existing category management framework and approach, gaining alignment across key stakeholders to establish category management within international brands outside of North America.
  • Utilise existing category toolkits that enable product profitability to be analysed and actions taken accordingly to improve and create sustainable margins aligned to the strategic roadmap and growth targets (Revenue, GM%, AOP, ROS%).
  • Create a set of measures and ongoing tracking to support delivery of revenue, margin and working capital through a category management approach.
  • Drive SKU management activity to ensure optimum SKU count to revenue growth is balanced with DIO (days of inventory outstanding), to maximise cashflow and ensure a healthy SKU profile.
  • Develop action plans and facilitate execution based on profitability and DIO analysis to improve SKU stock-turn/margin, actively manage SMOI or exit SKU to deliver a healthy profile within hardware.
  • Understand & capture market trends, competitor activity, customer needs and legislative implications, sharing findings with the wider product team to drive growth in Quanex's share of the accessible market, the product proposition strategy & ensure fit for purpose.
  • Provide subject matter expertise input to price and tender management across product ranges based on market, competitor and value proposition of own products analysis, in order to maximise product profitability and drive sales growth.
  • Key stakeholder in determining the product & brand positioning across the categories, supporting all company brand positioning aspirations.

Key Skills:

  • Degree qualified in Business Management would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Able to demonstrate strong category management expertise, with proven track record of success.
  • Commercially driven, tenacious, resilient, focussed on delivery with a team mentality.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to formulate plans and support/drive execution through key stakeholders.
  • Enjoys operating at both high and detailed levels.
  • Ability to matrix-manage effectively.
