This position has responsibility for the development and design of sealing systems for new and existing seal products for the building sector.
Responsibilities
- Design solutions for new product development within the given framework of on-site development activities.
- Provide expert assistance on thermoplastic extrusion, including promoting the technology and performing specific project responsibilities.
- Lead extrusion trials in support of customers and internal development, create prototypes, analyze test data, and document results in test reports.
- Foster strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate innovation initiatives and the product development process.
- Act as project leader on new product development, collaborating with cross-functional teams from concept to production release.
- Stay up to date with advancements in material technology and industry trends, and incorporate new technologies into the production process as appropriate to meet environmental, mechanical, and sealing performance requirements.
- Organize project meetings, define deliverables, monitor timelines and resources, and report deviations.
- Validate new designs, processes, and materials through testing, experimentation, and evaluation.
- Define product functional analysis (based on standards) to translate customer specifications and internal requirements into clear performance criteria.
- Produce written reports and present findings to internal teams and customers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in polymer engineering, materials science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of polymer science and technology, with a focus on thermoplastic elastomer extrusion processes.
- Proven experience in the plastics industry and in an engineering discipline.
- Project management skills with the ability to manage innovative projects and new product development initiatives.
- Demonstrated spirit of innovation and the ability to support modifications of existing equipment and processes.
- Flexibility in work assignments to accommodate group and personal goals.
- Proactive in learning about new and existing technologies.
- Strong design and prototyping skills, including experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Aware of the environmental impact of design ideas.
