This is a brand new position that has been created due to expansion. My client is a global pharmaceutical manufacturing company looking to recruit an experienced Microbiologist where you will be carrying out high volume microbiology testing on finished drug products.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Conducting QC Microbiology testing on finished drug products.
- Supporting the QC Scientist’s on microbiology testing.
- Maintaining the microbiology laboratory.
- Maintaining stock levels and preparation of logbooks.
- Maintenance of lab equipment to include but not exclusively: Switching on VLF Class II cabinet, boiling water/bead baths, media preparation (pH testing of media, autoclave waste & sterilisation of equipment).
- Maintenance of weekly stock culture isolates.
- Washing micro glassware and use of glass washer.
- Conducting in-process sampling testing when required.
- Collecting environmental monitoring samples as required.
- Conducting growth promotion testing of incoming goods.
The hours of work are either Tuesday - Saturday 7.00 am - 3.00 pm or 8.00 am - 4.00 pm. This is a 12 months contract based in Swindon which will be reviewed for a possible extension or go permanent; however, this is all dependent on the candidate and business performance. The PAYE rate is £13.58 per hour.
Skills:
- Microbiologist qualification or similar.
- Ideally microbiology experience within the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated environment.
- Good IT skills – Word, Excel and Outlook.
