Quality Part X is a busy, fast-growing motor dealership specialising in quality used vehicles. Our stock typically consists of vehicles up to approximately 5–6 years old, requiring strong modern diagnostic capability and up-to-date technical knowledge. We are seeking an experienced Head Automotive Technician to oversee workshop standards and ensure vehicles are prepared to retail quality.
This is a senior, hands-on role for a highly skilled technician with strong diagnostic ability and leadership experience. You will be responsible for advanced fault-finding, workshop oversight, and ensuring efficient vehicle preparation aligned with dealership standards.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out advanced diagnostics using modern multi-brand diagnostic equipment
- Identify faults accurately and implement effective repair solutions
- Service, maintain, and repair vehicles to a high standard
- Oversee workshop workflow, job allocation, and quality control
- Ensure vehicles are prepared for retail sale efficiently and safely
- Support and guide junior technicians/mechanics where required
- Maintain accurate job records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements
- Liaise with management regarding repair priorities and parts requirements
- Minimum 5+ years proven experience as a qualified automotive technician (essential)
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability
- Experience working with modern vehicles (typically up to 5–6 years old)
- Proficiency using current diagnostic tools and software
- Ability to work independently and manage workshop responsibilities
- Full UK driving licence
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Dealership or high-volume preparation experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience
