1:1 Behaviour Mentor required for a primary school in Lewisham. Must have experience supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
As a 1:1 Behaviour Mentor, you will be working closely with a Year 3 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. The pupil has a strong interest in sports and physical activity, so someone who enjoys being active and using sport as a positive engagement tool would be an excellent fit. You will provide consistent 1:1 support, helping the pupil regulate emotions, manage behaviour, and engage with learning. The school strongly believes that behaviour is a form of communication, so the role requires a calm, patient, and reflective approach, with a focus on understanding underlying needs rather than simply managing behaviour. You will work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team to implement tailored behaviour strategies and build a positive, trusting relationship that supports long-term progress. This is a full-time, long-term role starting ASAP.
This inclusive and supportive primary school in Lewisham places a strong emphasis on relationships, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour support. The school promotes a nurturing environment where staff are encouraged to take the time to understand pupils and respond to behaviour with empathy and consistency. The leadership team is approachable and supportive, with clear behaviour systems and strong pastoral structures in place. Staff work closely together to ensure pupils with SEMH needs receive consistent, individualised support, and the school is well regarded within the local community.
