About the Role

We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and well-organised Design and Technology Technician to support the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning within the D&T department at our secondary school located in the heart of the Borough of Bromley. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting staff and students in practical lessons across a range of disciplines, including Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles, and Product Design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, and organise equipment and materials for D&T lessons.
  • Assist teaching staff in the classroom during practical sessions.
  • Ensure health and safety protocols are rigorously maintained.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of tools, machinery, and IT/CAD-CAM equipment.
  • Manage stock control and order necessary supplies.
  • Support students with the use of tools, machinery, and digital fabrication equipment (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters).

Person Specification

  • Experience in a similar role or background in a workshop/technical environment is desirable.
  • Good understanding of health and safety in a school/workshop setting.
  • Strong practical and organisational skills.
  • Confidence using D&T tools and machinery (training will be provided if needed).
