We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff members to support students with severe learning difficulties and ASC in achieving their full potential. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students and contribute to their overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with ASC and SLD, both inside and outside the classroom, to help them engage with learning activities and achieve their learning goals.
  • Assist in the implementation of support plans and other highly individual and specific learning strategies, in a semi-formal manner.
  • Support students with practical tasks, including personal care, mobility assistance, and sensory integration activities, as needed.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, making use of The Engagement Model to evaluate the best way to support your pupils.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development and wellbeing of students with SEND.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, observations, and interventions, in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in an educational setting or a similar environment.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs, including but not limited to autism, SLD, ADHD, dyslexia, and physical disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in dealing with challenges and adapting to the individual needs of each student.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to teamwork, with a willingness to take initiative and contribute to the wider school community.
  • A commitment to upholding safeguarding policies and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in areas such as Teaching and Learning, Special Educational Needs, Childcare, or Psychology would be advantageous.
