Role
EAL Support Mentor required for the London Borough of Enfield for a long-term role starting in September.
EAL Support Mentor ideally qualified with TESOL, TEFL or CELTA.
EAL Support Mentor to support students with English as an Additional Language across KS3 and KS4.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with students across KS3 and KS4 whose first language is not English to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills so they can access the curriculum.
- Deliver targeted interventions and provide both in-class and small-group support.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt learning where appropriate and monitor students’ language development.
- Encourage confidence and independence in language use inside and outside the classroom.
Qualifications
- Recognised TESOL, TEFL or CELTA qualification (or equivalent).
- Previous experience supporting EAL learners within a secondary school or educational setting.
- Strong communication skills, cultural awareness, patience and a passion for helping every student reach their potential.
