The Position - 1:1 TA
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 TA to join their team as soon as possible. You will be working closely with a child who has SEMH needs, providing consistent support throughout the school day. Your role will involve supporting the child both academically and emotionally, helping them access their learning and develop positive relationships and greater independence. You will deliver emotional and academic interventions tailored to the child's individual needs. Experience working within an SEN, SEMH or PRU setting would be ideal, although previous experience providing 1:1 support to a child with SEMH needs would also be highly desirable. You will use a range of emotional regulation techniques to help the child manage their emotions and remain engaged with learning. Activities such as playing football may be used as a positive regulation strategy and to help build a trusting relationship with the child. The role may also involve supporting the child during periods of heightened emotion or challenging behaviour, with de-escalation potentially required. The ideal candidate will therefore be calm, patient, consistent and confident in managing challenging situations using positive and nurturing approaches.
