A Behaviour Mentor / 1:1 Teaching Assistant is required for a primary school in Lewisham, starting in September. The role involves supporting a Year 3 pupil on a 1:1 basis, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil who displays very challenging behaviour.
- Building a trusting relationship with the child.
- Understanding the child's individual needs and identifying behavioural triggers.
- Implementing positive strategies to help the child regulate their emotions and engage successfully in school life.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider pastoral team.
The successful candidate will be patient, resilient, and committed to encouraging positive outcomes both academically and socially. There will be a trial during the first week back in September to meet the staff and pupil before starting the role.
