The Position - ASD Teaching Assistant

A welcoming primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated and experienced ASD Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.You will be working within a high needs ASD class, supporting approximately 6-10 pupils, many of whom are non-verbal and require specialist support with communication, learning, sensory regulation and their day-to-day development.The successful ASD Teaching Assistant will ideally have experience using Makaton, PECS or other recognised ASD approaches and communication strategies. You will work closely with the class teacher and two other Teaching Assistants to provide consistent, individualised support to pupils throughout the school day.Your role will involve supporting pupils to access learning, develop their communication skills, manage sensory and emotional needs and build their independence. You will need to be patient, calm and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
