This is an exciting opportunity to learn all aspects of general gardening duties within a ground’s maintenance environment. The work is carried out on council owned land including playing fields, cemeteries, highway verges, sheltered housing sites and playgrounds. Salary expectations, from £15,808 per annum in the first year of apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be placed alongside experienced gardeners to enhance the grounds maintenance service and ensure that the work carried out is high quality and achieves contractual objectives.
- You will learn and carry out general ground’s maintenance and horticultural duties including grass cutting, hedge cutting, shrub pruning, flower bed maintenance, weeding, chemical application and over-marking of sports areas.
- There will also be an opportunity to learn how to use the ride on mowers/tractors subject to a full driving licence.
- You will be taught relevant health and safety guidelines and safe working practices and ensure that they are always observed including the wearing of appropriate PPE.
