One of the leaders in the poultry and value-added food products market is looking for a Trade Marketing Specialist for the UK market.
The role is commercial and execution-oriented
the successful candidate will support the UK CBD team by converting market and customer insights into trade activations, customer arguments, promotional mechanics, product launch support and measurable ROI.
This is not a classic brand-only marketing role.
The person should work close to CBD, customers and distributors, with a strong understanding of trade spend, gross-to-net thinking, customer activation, channel priorities and promo effectiveness.
- Main Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the UK trade marketing plan aligned with sales targets, channel priorities, customer plans and product launch roadmap.
- Support UK CBD teams with customer presentations, trade stories, product arguments, competitor insights and activation proposals.
- Plan and execute trade marketing campaigns, customer activations, promotional mechanics, listing support, sampling, trade shows and POS/customer materials.
- Manage trade marketing budgets, ensuring transparent approval, tracking and cost-effective use of resources.
- Distinguish trade marketing investment from commercial discounts and support the team in evaluating gross-to-net impact.
- Prepare pre- and post-promotion analysis: expected uplift, actual sales impact, margin effect, ROI, learnings and recommendations.
- Monitor UK FMCG market dynamics: customer/channel trends, competitor prices, promotions, assortment, private label activity and category developments.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key trade partners, distributors, wholesalers, foodservice partners and customer teams where relevant.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Demand Planning to ensure seamless execution and availability.
- Provide training and practical support to sales teams on trade marketing tools, promo mechanics, customer materials and post-evaluation discipline.
- Stay updated on UK market trends and best practices in trade marketing to drive continuous improvement.
- Required Experience and Skills
- 3+ years of proven experience in Trade Marketing, Category Management, Shopper Marketing, Sales Support or Customer Activation within FMCG.
- Experience in the UK market is strongly preferred; experience with retail, wholesale / cash & carry, foodservice, QSR or distributors is an advantage.
- Food category experience is preferred; chilled/frozen food, meat, poultry, ready meals or value-added food experience is a strong advantage.
- Strong commercial mindset and understanding of promotions, trade terms, customer investment, gross-to-net, margin and ROI.
- Strong analytical skills: confident user of Excel; Power BI, Nielsen/Kantar/Circana/IRI or customer portal experience is an advantage.
- Ability to manage budgets, track spend and prepare clear pre-/post-activity evaluation.
- Strong presentation and communication skills; ability to translate data into simple customer stories and commercial arguments.
- Self-starter with high ownership, hands‑on mentality and ability to work under pressure with a high level of autonomy.
- Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with sales, finance, marketing and supply chain.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
- Eligibility to work in the UK or clear ability to obtain the required work authorisation.
- Fluent English speaking and writing skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and occasionally internationally when required.
- Nice‑to‑Have Experience
- Experience with both branded and private label categories.
- Experience working for an international supplier or import/export business.
- Experience supporting product launches, tenders, new listings or customer JBPs.
- Knowledge of chilled and frozen supply chain constraints and how they affect commercial activation.
- Previous cooperation with UK grocery, wholesale, foodservice or QSR customers.
