Job Summary:
The PRN Front Office Receptionist is tasked with ensuring accurate and timely patient registration by utilizing medical systems. This role involves verifying patient insurance coverage and providing exceptional customer service to physicians, patients, families, and other medical professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone and addressing inquiries.
- Records patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Identifies patients by verifying date of birth and name, creating new accounts for those not in the system.
- Prepares necessary paperwork in advance of patient appointments.
- Contacts patients with “No Show” appointments to reschedule and makes necessary notations.
- Schedules appointments to optimize patient satisfaction and workflow and addresses patient concerns to provide comfort.
- Responds quickly to patients in distress during emergencies, using sound judgment.
- Updated patient records in the EMR, obtaining and entering current information as needed.
- Identifies payer sources, verifies insurance eligibility, and notifies Billing Department of any prior authorization needs.
- Maintains a clean and organized reception area.
- Records and collects patient copays and balances during check-in and check-out.
- Protects patient rights by ensuring confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Follows established policies and procedures, reporting changes as needed.
- Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills consistently.
- Handles telephone calls in a timely and courteous manner.
- Communicates professionally with patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred.
- 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare office preferred.
