In this position, you will join an Information Security and Risk Management team that is responsible for securing Qualcomm’s Global Cryptographic Operations. Qualcomm Information Security and Risk Management tasks range across all areas of cyber security including security architecture, application security, cyber threat hunting, responding to cyber security incidents, automation and scripting, cloud security, and engaging with the business to help manage cyber risks to the organization.
Develops and executes security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web‑based systems. Researches attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and designs countermeasures. Maintains hardware, software and network firewalls and encryption protocols. Administers security policies to control physical and virtual access to systems. Provides information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of cybersecurity‑relevant work experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of cybersecurity‑relevant work experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm.
- Willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in some of the following:
- Security Operations to include security event monitoring and incident review.
- Host Security Tooling (Tanium, Crowdstrike, Airlock, etc).
- Web Application Security (Secure deployment, OWASP, Burp).
- Creating threat detections in cloud, host, and network security tooling.
- Security Automation and scripting.
- Network Security (Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention/Detection Systems, Packet Capture, NSM).
- AWS/GCP/Azure Cloud security architecture, tooling, and monitoring.
- Linux OS Security, preferably Red Hat ecosystem experience.
- Hardware Security Modules.
- Cryptographic protocols and tooling (PKI, X.509, Certificate Authorities, Key Management).
- Security Benchmarks and Compliance (CIS, NIST CSF, Common Criteria, ISO 27001).
