Job Overview
The CPU design team delivers high‑performance cores used in data centres, mobile phones, laptops, industrial, robotics and automotive. We need a dynamic, enthusiastic and reliable Engineering Technician to join this team in Cambridge.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Modify consumer platforms to enable power measurements.
- Build test systems for power measurements.
- Plan and schedule future testing.
- Manage test equipment and calibration with the Lab Management team.
- Maintain routine test system upkeep.
- Assemble electronic, electrical and electro‑mechanical test components.
- Support ESD policy and COSHH procedures.
- Occasionally assist in board manufacturing modifications and testing.
Essential Technical Experience
- Excellent soldering and PCB rework skills, especially SMT.
- Lab environment experience.
- Bench‑level mechanical assembly.
- Proficiency with standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes.
- Understanding of electronic and semiconductor environments.
- Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, etc.).
Desirable Technical Experience
- Experience with ESD handling procedures.
- Test automation skills.
- Advanced soldering techniques (e.g., chip reflow).
- Usage of DAQs.
- Python programming.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent, or Associate’s degree and at least 1 year of Engineering Technician experience, or High School Diploma and at least 2 years of Engineering Technician experience.
- 5+ years of basic electrical/electronic engineering, electronics or RF testing experience in a lab environment.
- HNC or equivalent qualification preferred, or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
Physical Requirements
- Frequently transports and installs equipment weighing at least 25 lbs.
