Summary of position
The Project Manager will lead a varied portfolio of client-facing technology, onboarding, change and improvement initiatives from initiation through to transition into business as usual.
The role is accountable for creating clarity, maintaining momentum and ensuring outcomes remain aligned to agreed scope, timescales, budget, quality and client expectations.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who wants to understand how and why things work.
The successful candidate will be comfortable getting “under the bonnet”, asking thoughtful questions, testing assumptions and exploring the “what ifs” before decisions are made.
They will combine disciplined project control with an adaptable, people‑centred approach to change.
Key responsibilities
- End-to-end project delivery
- Lead projects through initiation, discovery, requirements and design, planning, build or configuration, testing, deployment, hypercare and formal closure.
- Define and maintain clear scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, acceptance criteria, dependencies and success measures.
- Create, baseline and maintain proportionate project plans, ensuring owners, due dates and critical dependencies are visible and actively managed.
- Coordinate cross‑functional delivery across client teams, product, development, QA, analysis, operations, information security, compliance and third parties.
- Drive timely decisions, approvals and sign‑offs, maintaining a clear audit trail.
- Governance, risk and control
- Maintain accurate RAID, action, decision, change and dependency logs, with clear ownership and escalation routes.
- Monitor scope, schedule, budget, quality, resourcing and benefits, taking corrective action where delivery is at risk.
- Prepare concise and accurate status reporting for clients, project governance forums and senior stakeholders.
- Apply appropriate change control, document control and project governance standards without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Plan and facilitate go/no-go readiness assessments, implementation run books, handover activities and lessons learned.
- Contribute to and align with the Qualco Delivery Office/PMO framework, ensuring accurate and timely status reporting while supporting the Senior Project Manager with resource and capacity planning, prioritisation, and scheduling activities
- Testing and implementation
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to coordinate test planning, entry and exit criteria, test data, defect management, user acceptance and evidence of approval.
- Ensure implementation, cutover, rollback, communications, training, operational readiness and hypercare arrangements are understood and owned.
- Confirm that deliverables are supportable and that responsibilities are transitioned effectively into business as usual.
- Required skills/experience
Minimum five years’ experience managing complex projects or programmes, including client-facing technology-enabled change.
A recognised project management qualification, such as PRINCE2, APM PMQ, PMP or equivalent.
Evidence of successful end-to-end delivery involving multiple workstreams, dependencies and senior stakeholders.
Strong client and stakeholder relationship management experience, including expectation management, facilitation and resolution of delivery challenges.
Practical experience of project planning, budgets, RAID management, governance, change control, status reporting and delivery assurance.
Confident using Microsoft 365, and project collaboration or planning tools.
Desired Skills
- Experience in fintech, financial services, collections and recoveries, Saa S or another regulated environment.
- Agile, Scrum, change management or business analysis qualification.
- Experience of client onboarding, data migration, systems integration, software implementation or operational transformation.
- Experience working with third‑party suppliers and commercial or contractual delivery commitments.
- Experience of regulated governance, testing cycles, information security, data protection or operational resilience.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Planner, Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Share Point, Visio or similar tools.
