As Control Systems Engineer you will be based at our QHE head office in Coventry, you will manage the electrical design and engineering for our products and equipment solutions as well as lead the manufacturing, build, wiring, and testing of all aspect of machine electrical and control systems.

What will you do?
- Interpret client specifications and translate them to functional design specifications and develop robust and efficient system solutions.
- Design of electrical control systems from scratch and amending existing designs using a proprietary electrical design software package. An ability to produce detailed drawings in line with the functional design specification.
- Design of control system PLC and HMI software from scratch and making amendments/upgrades to existing system software, in line with technical specifications.
- Create and develop standard software and graphical interface modules for all products and equipment.
- Integrating electrical and software designs into fully functioning control systems for industrial systems.
- Produce and develop system testing plans, lead the setting up/pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing (FAT & SAT), and site installation, as well as providing supporting documentation right up to system handover.
- Manage contractors and subcontracting activities within own discipline to support project execution.
- Provide technical support, on site or remote, for all products and equipment.
- Author, or contribute to as required, equipment operations and maintenance manuals as well as test books.
- Maintain all design records and version control.
- Ensure compliance with electrical regulations and safety requirements.
- Carry out all work in accordance with QHE QMS.
- Carry out other duties that may be requested in association with the company\’s business.
- Occasional site work in the UK and overseas.
What are we looking for?
Education: Electrical relevant studies. HNC and above. Must be qualified to 18th edition level.
Experience: At least 5 years in a similar role designing electrical systems in an industrial/special purpose machinery environment with designing PLC/HMI control software expert knowledge.
Technical skills: .
- A sound knowledge of current technology and systems.
- Competence in the use of Siemens TIA and Allen Bradley.
- Experience of cloud-based communication systems in an industrial environment, covering such things as Industry 4.0, IoT, AI, mobile devices & data storage.
- An Understanding of motion control products, systems, and proprietary robotics.
- Must have working knowledge of proprietary network technologies (Profinet and Ethernet particularly) supported by the major PLC/HMI vendors.
