Corporate Counsel supports the company’s legal operations in a variety of matters, with a focus that includes general corporate matters, regulatory and compliance matters, insurance, vendor contract negotiations, internal corporate policies and procedures, along with drafting and negotiating other transactional matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing construction and infrastructure/energy related legal matters
  • Negotiating and drafting energy and vendor contracts as well as various other transactional matters
  • Assisting with legal and regulatory compliance
  • Assisting with compliance with various domestic and international privacy laws
  • Assisting with management of the Company’s insurance program and operations
  • Assisting with a variety of other legal functions such as loans, joint ventures, acquisitions, general corporate matters, real estate, intellectual property protection, tax abatement, litigation, etc.
  • Managing collections on customer accounts
  • Performing a broad range of legal matters and general business matters based on the needs of the company, as assigned
  • Working with and managing outside counsel, counter-parties, insurers, and other third parties as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor with strong academic credentials and currently registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • Three or more years of legal experience as a practicing lawyer working in a construction/infrastructure transactional practice

  • Hands-on, self-starter who is disciplined and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting that requires a highly accurate and timely work product
  • Agile and versatile; comfortable with new and unfamiliar subject matter; easily adaptable to change
  • Able to take initiative with no direction
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong listening, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and accountability to deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel), Box, Workday, DocuSign
  • Excellent analytical, time-management, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Possess ambition and an optimistic attitude
  • Ability to effectively multitask and manage competing priorities and demands on time
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong integrity and independence of mind, with the ability to deliver difficult messages clearly and sensitively
  • Ability to effectively manage others, including outside counsel and service providers
