Job Description
We’re recruiting an experienced Transport Coordinator / Planner to join an established transport operation in Grantham.
This is a varied Transport Planner / Coordinator position covering both general haulage and pallet network operations, so you’ll play an important role in planning vehicles across different areas of the business.
The company operates a busy fleet carrying out general haulage, UK-wide backloads and pallet network work through TPN / Palletways.
This is an ideal opportunity for a planner who enjoys variety and wants to be part of a small, close-knit transport team.
- THE TRANSPORT COORDINATOR / PLANNER ROLE
- Plan and allocate resources across the transport fleet efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Plan general haulage movements and source UK-wide backloads to maximise vehicle utilisation and revenue.
- Coordinate TPN / Palletways network movements and ensure delivery schedules are achieved.
- Provide planning support and holiday/sickness cover across the operation.
- Liaise with drivers and customers throughout the day to resolve issues and keep transport moving.
- Process customer orders and enter accurate information into the traffic management system.
- Monitor delivery and collection schedules and deal with any issues affecting service.
- Process, scan and upload PODs and other transport documentation.
- Check purchase invoices where required.
- Monitor operational KPIs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Work closely with colleagues across the transport operation to ensure vehicles are loaded and unloaded safely and efficiently.
- Support compliance, health & safety and environmental standards.
- Working Hours: 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday
Experience & Qualifications
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for an experienced Transport Planner who is comfortable working in a busy transport environment and enjoys the challenge of balancing competing priorities.
- Previous experience in transport planning / haulage planning.
- Experience with general haulage and/or backload planning.
- Experience within a pallet network environment, ideally TPN or Palletways.
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with drivers and customers.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly.
- A flexible approach and willingness to support different areas of the operation.
