We’re recruiting a Transport Compliance Manager for a well-established general haulage business operating a fleet of 40+ vehicles and 100+ trailers. This is a key leadership position within the business, acting as the General Manager’s second-in-command and playing a major role in the ongoing development of the transport operation. The company has a strong compliance culture and an established customer base, generating over £10m turnover through contracted business. They are now looking for an experienced transport professional who can review current processes, identify opportunities for improvement and drive compliance standards across the operation. This role would suit someone with a transport operations background who has progressed into compliance and understands the practical realities of running a busy fleet operation.
The Role
- Lead all aspects of transport compliance and regulatory management
- Conduct a full compliance and operational gap analysis
- Ensure compliance with Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation
- Manage driver compliance, defect reporting and vehicle maintenance processes
- Review and improve health & safety procedures and inductions
- Lead internal audits and compliance reporting
- Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures
- Drive digital compliance systems and process improvements
- Work closely with the General Manager to improve operational performance and cost control
- Support budget management, supplier performance and defect reduction initiatives
- Provide leadership and guidance to drivers and operational teams
