About Qoro

Qoro Quantum builds the software orchestration layer for the heterogeneous computing era. Our stack β€” Application Development, Compute Substrate, and Unified Simulation β€” gives developers a hardware-agnostic-but-aware platform for hybrid quantum-classical workloads. Our Algomorphic Heterogeneous Computing (AHC) thesis holds that practical quantum advantage comes from intelligent orchestration across QPU, HPC, and GPU backends, not just from any single hardware platform. We are backed by the UChicago Polsky Centre and are actively deploying with industrial partners across Europe and North America.

The Role

This is a senior scientific role for someone who has gone deep in quantum research and now wants to apply that expertise at the point where quantum computing meets real industrial problems. You will be the primary technical authority bridging Qoro's engineering capability and the partner organisations we work with. That means leading applied research engagements, shaping how our stack is positioned and adopted across sectors, and building the scientific credibility that opens doors with enterprise R&D teams, national labs, and academic collaborators. You will report to the CTO and work in close alignment with the CEO on commercial strategy and external positioning.

What You'll Do

  • Research Leadership
    • Define and lead applied research programmes that demonstrate Qoro's stack against industrially relevant problem classes β€” variational algorithms, distributed execution, error mitigation, and beyond.
    • Author and co-author technical publications, whitepapers, and benchmarks that establish Qoro's scientific position in the field.
    • Represent Qoro at conferences, workshops, and standards bodies in quantum computing and HPC.
    • Build and steward a network of academic collaborators and advisors.
  • Industry Engagement and Adoption
    • Act as the principal technical point of contact for enterprise partners across target verticals β€” automotive, pharma, energy, financial services.
    • Lead technical discovery and deployment conversations, translating partner use cases into concrete workflows on Divi, Composer, and Maestro.
    • Work with partners through the full adoption cycle: from initial problem scoping and proof-of-concept to production deployment.
    • Surface adoption blockers and partner requirements to the CTO and engineering team to inform the product roadmap.
  • Positioning and Visibility
    • Develop technically credible external narratives around Qoro's differentiation β€” hardware-agnosticism, orchestration efficiency, and the AHC framework.
    • Support grant applications, consortium bids, and public funding programmes where scientific leadership is required.

What We're Looking For

  • Essential
    • PhD in quantum computing, quantum information, or a closely related field.
    • Research depth in at least one of: variational quantum algorithms (VQE, QAOA), quantum error correction, distributed quantum execution, quantum-classical hybrid workflows, or quantum error mitigation.
    • Demonstrated research leadership β€” through publications, a research group, or equivalent independent research output.
    • Ability to communicate technical work credibly to both scientific peers and non-specialist stakeholders, including executive sponsors and procurement teams.
    • Experience at the interface of research and application β€” whether through an industrial research role, applied collaboration, or start-up involvement.
  • Desirable
    • Prior experience in a commercial or customer-facing technical role within deep tech or enterprise software.
    • Familiarity with HPC environments, distributed classical computing, or GPU-accelerated workloads.
    • Existing network in quantum computing, HPC, or one or more of our target verticals.
    • Experience contributing to competitive grant applications in quantum or adjacent fields.

Why This Role

Qoro's stack is deployed, benchmarked, and in use with real partners. The next phase is about establishing scientific depth alongside commercial scale β€” and this role sits at the centre of both. You will have genuine influence over research direction, product positioning, and the partnerships that define how quantum computing gets adopted in industry. You will work closely with the CEO and CTO, with the scope to build and lead a research function as the company grows. Qoro Quantum is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
