About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead GCP Engineer with current Developed Vetting (DV) clearance to lead and support this project with the Ministry of Defence in Corsham. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible not only for architecting and implementing secure Google Cloud Platform environments but also for mentoring engineers, setting technical direction, and ensuring delivery across critical defence programmes.
What You\\\'ll Do
- Lead the design, build, and optimisation of secure GCP platforms in line with MOD standards
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of cloud engineers within tmc3
- Define best practices, patterns, and standards for GCP deployments and security compliance
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) across engineering teams
- Partner with MOD stakeholders to shape cloud strategy and support migrations to GCP
- Oversee incident management, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation
- Produce high-quality technical documentation and present solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, securely, and aligned with MOD priorities
Requirements
What You\\\'ll Bring
- Essential Skills & Experience:
- Active DV clearance (required)
- Proven track record as a Senior or Lead Cloud Engineer, with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform
- Hands-on leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding engineering teams
- In-depth knowledge of GCP services across compute, networking, storage, and identity/security
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar). Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience working in secure/regulated sectors
Desirable
- GCP certifications (Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer)
- Experience with hybrid/multi-cloud and containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Prior defence sector or government programme experience in a leadership capacity
