PROJECT OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Senior / Lead OutSystems Engineer to join a strategic initiative developing a cutting-edge Quote Journey for High-Net-Worth (HNW) customers in the premium home insurance sector.
Project Objectives:
- Design and deliver an intuitive, high-quality digital quote journey for HNW customers
- Demonstrate early working outputs within weeks
- Integrate with external and client backend services to enable downstream fulfillment processes
- Establish a scalable delivery approach for iterative enhancement
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Design & OutSystems Application Development
- Co-design and implement low-code business applications following OutSystems best practices and client architectural standards
- Develop the frontend quote journey with intuitive user interface and seamless user experience
- Implement screening logic against client "killer questions"
- Build referral mechanisms for out-of-appetite applicants
- Hands-on OutSystems application development across Traditional and Reactive Web platforms
- Systems Integration
- Integrate with external services and client backend platforms:
- AddressCloud - specialist address lookup and property data services
- Headless Drupal CMS - content management
- Policy Administration Platform (Merlin) - contact and proposal creation
- Nexus API Integration Platform - API connectivity and orchestration
- Telephony Outbound Dialler - automated outbound calling processes
- Design and develop REST APIs for seamless system communication
- Ensure data flows correctly through all integrated systems
- Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Develop and maintain unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality
- Create and update comprehensive technical documentation for all developed applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve OutSystems-related issues
- Ensure compliance with client architectural standards and best practices
- Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Support Product Owners in backlog construction and refinement
- Perform technical analysis and provide high-level effort estimations
- Contribute technical insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
- Collaborate closely with engineers, testers, and cross-functional team members
- Review technical outputs and provide constructive feedback
- Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholder levels, both verbally and in writing
- Translate functional requirements into technical design and development tasks
- Provide clear status updates and technical briefings to business and technical audiences
- Ensure quality and timely delivery of all outputs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Experience & Skills
- Approximately 7 years of hands-on OutSystems application development experience
- Deep knowledge of:
- OutSystems framework, tools, components, and best practices
- Domain Driven Architecture standards and principles
- REST API design and development
- OutSystems integration with third-party systems and platforms
- Traditional and Reactive Web application development
- OutSystems ODC (Outsystems Developer Cloud) experience
- OutSystems Certification (mandatory)
Development & Technical Skills
- Expert-level OutSystems application development (Traditional Web and Reactive Web)
- Ability to translate functional requirements into technical designs and development tasks
- Strong unit and integration testing practices
- Effective debugging and troubleshooting capabilities
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
Soft Skills
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

SCOPE OF WORK
A. Discovery & Design Phase (Supporting Role)
- Collaborate with BA (Business Analyst) and SA (Solutions Architect) teams in defining HNW customer journey
- Support rapid prototyping activities using Figma and/or OutSystems
- Define data capture and integration requirements
- Review and provide technical input on design outputs
B. Build & Integration Phase (Primary Role)
- Develop the complete frontend quote journey in OutSystems per technical specifications
- Implement screening functionality for client "killer questions"
- Integrate with all required external and internal services:
- Drupal CMS integration
- AddressCloud lookup services
- Merlin backend platform (contact and proposal creation)
- Nexus integration platform
- Telephony outbound dialler
- Ensure seamless downstream fulfillment processes
- Create comprehensive technical documentation
- Conduct code reviews and quality assurance testing
