Quality Milk Management Services Ltd. is a small family company focused on the dairy industry, offering milk recording, laboratory and consultancy services. We are based near the city of Wells and due to increased business are looking to take on a full time Laboratory Technician/Assistant.

The role will need someone who is driven to take ownership of, and responsibility for their work and think for themselves, as well as being a strong team player. Attention to detail is essential. As we are a small team, a good sense of humour and a willingness to muck in is imperative. An interest in the dairy industry is essential. Whilst previous dairy or laboratory experience would be beneficial, it is not essential as full training will be provided.

Core business hours are Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, with possibility of Saturdays in the future (on a rota basis). The rate of pay will be commensurate with experience.

Lab Technician Role:

Due to the diverse range of analyses that we currently carry out, the role will vary from day to day. However, we are aiming to recruit a technician whose role will primarily be on the milk recording side of the business. The range of roles will expand as experience and knowledge increases through on-site training with our experienced team.

  • Checking and booking in samples
  • Sterilisation, wash up and dispatch
  • Preparation of samples for testing
  • SCC, butterfat and protein testing using latest analytical instruments
  • Reading and recording findings
  • Reporting results
  • Computer data entry
