We are currently recruiting a Kitchen Assistant for a 36 hour post within QME Care based in Queens House, a residential care setting in Kelso, Scottish Borders. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, hard working and a team player to join our established kitchen team providing meals for our Residents here at QME.
All our roles work a flexible rota system over a 7 day a week period. Shift pattern will be 4 days per week with opportunities to pick up extra shifts. Double time for Christmas & New Year.
Purpose of the position:
- In liaison with the cook, prepare vegetables and other materials required in the preparation of resident meals.
- Support the cooks in their day to day tasks.
- Undertake all dish washing and kitchen cleaning tasks.
- Share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.
- Help in the care of residents’ physical environment and in the general day to day activities of the home.
- Vegetable preparation as directed by the cook.
- Preparation of meal trolleys.
- Maintain kitchen and appliances in clean order, as per the agreed kitchen regime, observing Environmental Health guidelines and procedures.
- Perform such other duties as may be reasonably required.
This list is not exhaustive and can vary from time to time according to service needs. Interviews will be on a rolling basis. Working pattern per 7 day rota between the hours of 0700 – 1900.
Please note that the hourly rate is based on applicants who are 21 years and over; should you be aged 20 years or younger, the hourly rate is based on the age related brackets of the National Living Wage.
