QLM Search is supporting an international food trading business in the appointment of a Head of Trading to support the continued development of its global trading activity. The business operates within international meat, poultry and seafood markets, sourcing product from global supply regions and supplying the UK food manufacturing and foodservice sectors.
This is a hands-on trading position where the successful individual will be expected to operate directly in the market, developing supplier relationships, negotiating supply agreements and identifying new trading opportunities. The position will suit an experienced international trader who enjoys working close to the market and contributing directly to commercial performance.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage sourcing relationships across international supply markets, particularly within Asia and the Far East
- Identify new supply opportunities across meat, poultry, fish and seafood categories
- Manage the commercial trading of product into UK customers, including food manufacturers and foodservice businesses
- Negotiate supply agreements covering pricing, volumes, specifications and contractual terms
- Maintain strong relationships with international processors, exporters and trading partners
- Monitor global supply and demand conditions, pricing movements and trading opportunities
- Travel periodically to key sourcing regions to maintain supplier engagement and market visibility
- Manage trading margins and commercial performance across assigned categories
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment between supply availability and customer demand
