Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga is a whānau-focused, Iwi mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. We have been supporting our whānau me hapori to achieve their aspirations and general wellbeing for more than 40 years. Underpinning our success as an organisation are our values Kotahitanga, Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga and Whanaungataunga, which are woven through everything we do.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our kaupapa Māori Homecare service that delivers high quality home care support with aroha and manaakitanga throughout Heretaunga, Ahuriri and Wairoa.

We are looking for a special Nurse who can provide clinical assessments for whānau, help grow and develop our service and support our team of professional Homecare Support Kaimahi. You will be someone who can easily establish rapport with whānau from all walks of life, live and breathe our values and has a Te Ao Māori worldview and will deliver professional Nursing assessments, clinical advice and support.

This is a part-time role, 20 hours a week plus on call cover after hours every third week and weekend covering our 0800 number. We are flexible with the hours and days however one day every fortnight you are required to travel to Wairoa.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience and knowledge of Community Nursing and/or Aged Care
  • Live locally and know our community
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills with a knowledge of the interRAI suite of assessment tools and the clinical application of case mix
  • Experience in providing direction and delegation of care to a non-regulated workforce and can work with autonomy within the community
  • Cultural awareness of tikanga and Te Ao Māori
  • Good computer and reporting skills
  • A Full and current Driver’s license
