Weāre looking for a compassionate, capable Dental Assistant to join our friendly and professional team at Oranga Niho, part of Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH). This is a part-time permanent role, working 16 hours per week across two days.
About Us
TToH is a NgÄti Kahungunu mandated, kaupapa MÄori valuesābased health and social services organisation. For over 40 years, weāve been walking alongside whÄnau across Te Matau a MÄui supporting their wellbeing through health, social, education, and community development services.
Oranga Niho is our Foundationāaccredited dental service, delivering highāquality, evidenceābased care to over 1,500 enrolled patients, with a strong focus on highāneeds whÄnau.
Whether youāre already familiar with kaupapa MÄori approaches or are keen to learn more about working in a culturally grounded environment, we welcome your interest and offer a supportive space to grow.
In this role, you will:
- Support and communicate with clinicians and whÄnau during dental procedures
- Greet patients, review medical histories, and answer questions
- Prepare and maintain dental operatories before and after procedures
- Sterilise instruments and equipment to high infection control standards
What weāre looking for:
- Experience as a Dental Assistant (NZDA qualification preferred)
- A warm, professional manner and strong communication skills
- A positive, canādo attitude and a team player mindset
- Strong organisational and timeāmanagement skills
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- An understanding of tikanga MÄori or a genuine interest in learning
