Make a real difference in the early learning journey of tamariki in our community. Weāre looking for a compassionate, relationshipāfocused kaimahi to support whÄnau to engage with Early Childhood Education (ECE) and KÅhanga Reo across Heretaunga.
About Us
Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a kaupapa MÄori, NgÄti Kahungunu mandated organisation dedicated to strengthening the wellbeing of whÄnau. For over 40 years, weāve delivered health, social, education, and community services grounded in Te Ao MÄori and guided by aroha, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and kotahitanga.
About the Role
As our WhÄnau Engagement Worker ā ECE Pathways, youāll work directly with whÄnau to help tamariki access early learning opportunities. Youāll build trusted relationships, support whÄnau to understand the value of early childhood education, identify barriers, and guide them through the enrolment process with ECE providers and KÅhanga Reo. This role is all about whanaungatanga, whakamana, and walking alongside whÄnau to create strong, confident connections with early learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage priority whÄnau and build trusting relationships
- Strengthen connections between whÄnau and local ECE/KÅhanga Reo services
- Educate whÄnau on the benefits of early learning
- Identify and help address barriers to participation
- Maintain regular followāup to support ongoing engagement
Essential Qualifications
- Current and valid full driverās licence
Desirable Qualifications
- Diploma in Early Childhood, Social Services (or equivalent), or currently studying
- Current First Aid Certificate
