Antarctica New Zealand is entering an exciting new chapter. As guardians of New Zealandâs activities in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean, we are strengthening how we protect, understand and champion one of the worldâs most vital regions â and we are now establishing a dedicated philanthropic fundraising function to support this work.
The Opportunity
- Build and embed a fundraising function from scratch within a respected Crown entity
- Develop and deliver a credible, values-aligned fundraising strategy
- Establish high-value relationships with donors, foundations and partners
- Work closely with the Chief Executive, senior leaders, the Board and Trustees
- Lay foundations that will endure well beyond the initial 12-month term

- Design and implement a targeted fundraising strategy aligned to Antarctica New Zealandâs purpose, values and reputation
- Identify and steward priority donor relationships, creating a strong and sustainable pipeline
- Partner with Antarctica NZ leaders to unlock high-value engagement opportunities
- Establish fit-for-purpose systems, reporting and donor stewardship practices
- Provide clear, meaningful reporting to the Chief Executive, Board and Trustees
- Build the profile and credibility of the Trust through thoughtful engagement and storytelling
This is a hands-on, influential role that combines strategic thinking with relationship leadership.

- A strong track record in philanthropy, fundraising or a related field
- Experience designing and delivering strategic fundraising initiatives
