The Role

As a Senior Flight Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for the efficient, safe and effective conduct of specific evaluation, test and trial activities. This will typically encompass Air platform Certification, Qualification, Performance, Operability and Safety advice in the role domains. Day-to-day, you'll provide specialist scientific or technical advice and consultation. Tasks encompass the project lifecycle from technical strategy through to delivery, as part of multidisciplinary teams, requiring solution definition effort and will be delivered in accordance with the associate Project Delivery Plan.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluations conducted on Transport, Combat, Helicopter and Unmanned Air platforms
  • Ensuring equipment and systems are safe for flight as well as being fit for purpose
  • Conducting hazard-based Evaluation & Test alongside independent Certification advice of Mechanical and Integrated Electrical Power Systems
  • Undertaking a range of evaluations encompassing single equipment or role related changes to a platform
  • Assessing newly introduced aircraft and deliver technical hazard and risk-based reporting

Essential experience of the Senior Flight Systems Engineer:

  • Significant on the job experience working in the Aerospace Engineering domain
  • The skills, knowledge and experience of Aerospace Mechanical and Integrated Electrical Power Systems
  • Working for or with DE&S Platform Delivery Teams
  • Electrical Power generation and Distribution
  • Electrical Wiring Interconnection
  • Propulsion (including integration and engine life management) (desirable)

Essential qualifications for the Senior Flight Systems Engineer:

  • Suitably qualified Aerospace or Mechanical Engineer [ONC, HNC or HND], nationally recognised [EngTech / IEng] or working towards that accreditation

This role is 37 hours per week based at our RAF Waddington site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. QinetiQ operates state-of-the-art facilities across the UK that focus on defence, security and technology innovation. These facilities enable QinetiQ to conduct a wide range of research, testing and development activities that support both military and civilian applications helping to advance technology and support national security.

Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
