Join us as a Senior Systems Engineer at our Farnborough, Malvern, Portsmouth or Bristol site, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.The RoleAs a Senior Systems Engineer, you will join a team that develops and integrates nose ranging and tracking capabilities within Underwater Test and Evaluation delivering high quality systems engineering outcomes. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of a very exciting defence challenge.Day-to-day, you’ll be delivering high-quality systems engineering outcomes supporting the UK’s ranging capability under the LTPA programme. This includes system architecture definition, concepts of operations, detailed system modelling, testing integration and even delivery to the range.Your responsibilities will include:Applying a systems engineering approach and delivering key engineering activities across significant projectsEngaging with stakeholders, project managers and technical teams to meet customer and business requirementsLeading technical teams, structuring workloads, reviewing outputs and managing junior systems engineersDefining and applying systems engineering processes including requirements engineering, system design and supportDelivering technical documentation, reporting progress and escalating major technical issues where requiredApplying relevant regulatory, safety and technical standards to ensure complianceEssential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer: Sound understanding of systems engineering principles, lifecycle processes and wider engineering management considerationsProven experience determining suitable systems engineering approaches while considering enterprise, political and acquisition factorsTrack record of applying relevant systems engineering techniques to support effective project deliveryPrevious experience defining required engineering outputs including management plans, product descriptions and test reportsProven ability anticipating potential problems, understanding wider impacts and determining appropriate solutionsExperience demonstrating strong understanding of requirements, specifications and system design alongside effective negotiation and presentation skillsEssential qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer:Degree level qualification or equivalentWe value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough, Malvern, Portsmouth or Bristol site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.Why Join QinetiQ?As we continue to grow into new markets around the world, there’s never been a more exciting time to join QinetiQ.
