The Role

As a Senior Electrical Technician, you’ll work within the Capability Support at MoD West Freugh as an Electrical Technician carrying out functions aligned with trials mobilisation, delivery and conclusion, to meet the strategic and operational objectives of the Range. Day-to-day, you’ll provide provision of Electrical Engineering support relating to trials delivery, equipment maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance. You will be an integral part of a team providing support to the Range and the site trials.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading set up and demobilisation trials infrastructure in compliance with trials instructions
  • Delivering specialist technical maintenance support & services in relation to building plant/equipment and site services
  • Prioritisation of work programme to satisfy business needs
  • Ensuring robust application of health, safety & environmental procedures & processes
  • Ensuring maintenance standards and quality of work delivered are to the required level and aligned with latest regulations
  • Overseeing the conduct of contractors on site; monitoring the implementation & performance of tasks allocated

Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Technician:

  • Experience in inspection, testing and fault finding
  • Knowledge of BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Strong technical background with experience with maintenance schedules, Installation, commissioning and problem solving
  • Demonstrate a full and thorough understanding of operational health & safety and safe working practises
  • Good knowledge and level of competency in other areas of building services (BMS, mechanical)
  • Proficient with IT and basic software such as Word and Excel and using Maintenance Software packages

Essential qualifications for the Senior Electrical Technician:

  • Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Knowledge of Safety Acts and Regulations (Desirable)

This role is 37 hours per week based at our West Freugh site. QinetiQ operates state-of-the-art facilities across the UK that focus on defence, security and technology innovation. These facilities enable QinetiQ to conduct a wide range of research, testing and development activities that support both military and civilian applications helping to advance technology and support national security.

Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
