The Role
As a Field Engineer you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical solutions within one or more technology domains working with minimal supervision and taking ownership of technical deliverables. Day-to-day, you’ll work contributing to the design, implementation, and support of systems and services proactively solving problems and influencing engineering decisions across teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Independently design, implement, and support enterprise-grade solutions across one or more technology domains
- Providing guidance and informal mentoring to Associate level engineers
- Performing troubleshooting and assisting in resolving any technical issues
- Collaborating with Senior Engineers and team leaders to align work with strategic goals
- Independently working through tickets and solving problems
- Supporting Field Engineering activities across multiple sites, ensuring consistent and secure deployment
Essential experience of the Field Engineer:
- Previous experience in engineering or technical roles with the ability to work autonomously
- Prior experience supporting Field Engineering operations
- An understanding of Infrastructure deployment & Lifecycle Management
- Previous experience in infrastructure rollouts including structure cabling, network hardware, Audio Visual Systems and end-user devices
- The ability to act as a technical contact for field teams and to be able to translate operational requirements into practical solutions
- Strong communication skills to engage with vendors, service level tracking and escalation handling
- Awareness of health and safety standards in field environments, including safe working practices and basic risk assessments
- UK Drivers Licence
Essential qualifications for the Field Engineer:
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
This role is 37 hours per week based at MOD Boscombe Down and is 5 days a week on-site. Travelling to other locations will be required.
