The Role
As a Facilities Engineer, you will play an important role for our South Coast sites (Portsmouth, Gosport, Funtington and Winfrith) ensuring the facilities, plant and equipment is fully operational to ensure we can continue to deliver important work in support of the UK’s national interest.
Day-to-day, you will be responsible for the delivery of maintenance across all aspects of building services undertaking pre-preventive maintenance, repair, and reactive tasks.
Your responsibilities:
- Provide maintenance support (including planned, preventive & corrective maintenance) in relation to site services, plant / equipment & buildings
- Deliver specialist maintenance support & services in relation to building plant / equipment
- Breakdown complex tasks and then execute the planned schedule of work
- Prioritisation of work programme to satisfy business needs
- Form part of the on call rota within the Maintenance Team
Essential experience:
- Strong knowledge of building systems across all disciplines with a key competency in plumbing, HVAC or gas maintenance

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Portsmouth site. Shift patterns for this role are 07:30 – 16:30 Monday – Thursday and 07:30 – 12:00 on Fridays. There is a 1 week in 5 On Call rota for this position.

It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
