The Role
As an Associate Scientist, you will support the development of advanced radar and signal processing technologies that directly enhance UK Defence capability. Day-to-day, you will contribute to research, modelling and simulation activities, applying scientific and analytical techniques to solve complex technical problems, develop algorithms, analyse real-world data and support innovative solutions across radar and signal processing programmes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and optimising models and simulations for radar and signal processing applications
- Applying scientific and mathematical methods to analyse data and interpret results
- Designing and assessing algorithms and waveform concepts
- Supporting research and development activities across multi-disciplinary projects
- Documenting technical findings and presenting results to a range of audiences
Essential experience of the Associate Scientist:
- Strong scientific and analytical background in physics, mathematics or related disciplines
- Experience applying modelling, simulation or data analysis techniques
- Coding experience in MATLAB, Python, C++ or similar
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking capability
- Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Essential qualifications for the Associate Scientist:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Maths or a related STEM subject or equivalent experience
This role is 37 hours per week based at Portsdown Technology Park in Portsmouth. Hybrid working patterns are available.
