Role Overview
As a Systems Engineer, you will be making a real and immediate contribution to UK national security and defence, developing and delivering operational capabilities in the Cyber, Cryptography and Operational Technology domains.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Customer‑friend consultancy and business analysis to support internal and external customers in planning and management of acquisition, research or product development activities.
- Understand and analyse stakeholder needs to elicit, capture and manage their requirements for a capability.
- Identify opportunities and report back on additional customer business opportunities.
- Lead planning and management of acquisition, research or product development activities.
- Lead project teams as a solution develops to ensure continuing compliance to requirements.
- Analyse requirements and translate them into logical system requirements and constraints.
Essential Experience
- Ability to understand and analyse business needs (Operational User / Mission Needs).
- Ability to work with and support other Project/Systems Engineering and Subject Matter Experts to develop detailed designs and planning.
- Solid Systems Engineering knowledge; MBSE experience desirable.
- Knowledge of Cryptography (Crypt‑Key), Vulnerability Research, Cyber Defence, or Cyber Exercising highly desirable.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, or proven experience working in an equivalent engineering role.
- Intention to join/membership of appropriate professional body.

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.

Malvern, UK – The facility is noted for its work in electronic warfare, surveillance and complex system integration, contributing significantly to the UK’s defence capabilities.
