Mission Training Devices is looking for talented software development graduates to join its expanding talent in preparation for exciting upcoming opportunities. The role will be developing software for synthetic training devices, both stand-alone software applications and Mixed-Reality integrations. As such, we are looking for individuals with recent training and/or experience in the following areas (in order of preference):
- Building Windows Applications in C# / C++
- Networking across Windows Applications
- Plugin/Module development for Simulators/Games
- Standalone cross-platform mobile applications
The successful candidate will work with collaborative development tools (specifically Azure DevOps and Git). MTD develop software following the SCRUM development methodology. As such, knowledge of SCRUM Agile methodology and working with source control (GIT) as part of a team is beneficial. As this role is for a graduate (junior) developer, a proactive can-do attitude is crucial to working in this small team with a desire to self-learn and expand knowledge.
We are open to applications from across the UK, however, due to the nature of the initial project, semi-frequent travel can be expected to MoD Boscombe Down for face-to-face meetings and work with hardware. While the exact frequency of travel is dependent on operational pressures, twice-monthly visits are to be expected with at least one overnight stay locally.
MTD is looking for an enthusiastic individual striving for self-improvement, expansion of understanding and a strong desire to work on cutting-edge concepts and new products. A base understanding of, or willingness to learn the core principles of training, simulation and emerging technologies are key. MTD team members take pride in their problem-solving ability and are keen to expand this further. We are looking for experienced professionals who can seamlessly integrate into a growing team. The ability to work with other, like-minded, professionals is essential but there will be instances where the successful candidate will need to work on smaller projects alone. MTD prides itself on team spirit and the ability to communicate effectively will be essential. This includes both verbal and written skills from participating in regular departmental Teams meetings to code-reviews and face-to-face discussions. A high level of professionalism is expected, and the successful candidate will need to participate in team and company activities both inside and outside of the department. MTD are embarking on several exciting projects that require our talent to expand and we are looking for like-minded individuals to become part of our dynamic team.
