The Software Engineering discipline works across air, land, maritime and space domains, using modern technology to develop innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- You will perform a wide variety of software tasks throughout the entire software lifecycle, focusing on embedded software development to support QinetiQ projects.
- You will work closely with clients and specialists from radio frequency, electronics, FPGA design, digital signal processing, secure products and more.
- You will analyse, design, implement, test, support and maintain novel embedded solutions for mission‑critical problems, and you will have 20% of your working week for university commitments toward a degree.

- Challenging science and technology programmes in the UK and overseas.
- Developing robust global navigation systems for armed forces.
- Supporting test and evaluation for novel equipment trials and military exercises.

Qualifications
- Academic: BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Computer Engineering via the Apprenticeship programme at Gloucestershire College/UWE Bristol.
- Entry Requirements: 5 GCSEs at grades 9‑4 or A*‑C, including maths, English and science; A Levels at grade C or above in a maths‑based and a science or engineering subject; or 90+ credits in an Engineering BTEC and equivalent to 112 UCAS points.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Strong interest or experience in embedded software engineering.
- Knowledge of at least one embedded or low‑level software language.
- Experience in computing or engineering industry work.
- Extracurricular or hobby interest in software engineering or computer science.
- Experience with FPGA, VHDL or RTOS software.
Location
Based at the QinetiQ site in Malvern, Worcestershire.
