The Role: The Resource Manager's purpose is to manage the dynamic allocation of resources to meet the tactical and future work demands across QinetiQ’s Engineering disciplines - maximising resource productivity with a focus on an individual’s success as well as enabling successful business delivery. The role is embedded within a specific Discipline with primary responsibility for resources that are less complex in nature to resource and will operate as part of a collaborative of the Workforce Planning community to support wider business delivery. The Resource Manager will be managing permanent, part time, contractors seeking to understand work demands (requests and changes) that arise from the business development, project delivery and engineering operations functions across all of QinetiQ.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Tactical Decisions: All tactical plans and decisions to direct the deployment of the Discipline’s resources to meet new and changed work requests seeking guidance from the Senior Resource Manager where necessary.
  • Complex Solutions: This role will be identifying conflict in workloads and proposing solutions in conflicting resource challenges in agreed timescales.
  • Procedure Implementation: Effectively implements the Workforce & Facility Planning (W&FP) policy and procedures within their Discipline and leads Project Managers and Team Leads through the WFP processes.
  • Process Improvement: Confidence to join teams to proactively identify improvements to processes and toolsets in business operations, and when required works with Senior Resource Managers to implement and drive the change across the sub function.
  • Productivity Improvement: Proactively identify, analyse and highlight constraints and working practices that negatively impact on the flexibility, realisable capacity and productivity of the resources.
  • RM Community: Actively collaborates and supports other Senior RMs to provide a continuous and resilient resource planning service.

Essential experience of the Resource Manager:

  • Proven experience of interacting with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders and demonstrates strong communication skills.
  • Some experience of mentoring junior members within a team.
  • Evidence of committing to actions and takes responsibility for decisions and outcomes.
  • Experience of managing and allocating Resources.

Desirable qualifications for the Resource Manager:

  • Level 3 education or equivalent experience with typically 3 - 5 years further experience working across a multifaceted team.
