The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.
The role will be both customer and internally facing. In terms of customer facing, you will be the point of contact for the MOD Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) Chief Engineer, will sit on the Joint Programme Office board and will support the Technical Co-ordination Groups for the different capability areas (TCGs). In terms of internal facing you will work with a range of people to ensure the smooth running of the contract including: the Project Management community, the MSCA Chief Technology Officer, Technical Leads and the Functional Management community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working with customers and the project management teams to ensure the technical teams undertaking the work understand the context for the work they are conducting.
- Dissemination of Engineering best practice and promotion of common approaches across all elements of the MSCA contract.
- Supporting the development and refinement of processes which define how the engineering services are delivered via the MSCA contract.
- Work with the technical teams and the Programme/Project Management community to proactively identify and resolve engineering issues.
- To contribute as a member of the PDLS IDT management team to the delivery of the PDLS business strategy and objectives and mentor technical/engineering activities to embed a high-quality engineering culture within delivery teams.
Essential experience of the Chief Engineer:
- Significant and successful experience working as at least a Principal Engineer within the domain of Naval Architect, Marine Engineer or Mechanical Engineer with a marine focus.
- Experience of the submarine design and/or operations.
- Possess the leadership skills required to engage and motivate the team to contribute to the success of the MSCA (primary focus) and growth of the wider Platforms business.
- Previous experience in the delivery of multiple large programmes simultaneously.
- Deep technical knowledge and understanding of engineering, preferably with a focus on maritime or submarines.
Essential qualifications for the Chief Engineer:
- A degree in Science or Engineering, or an equivalent nationally recognised, professional qualification.
This role is 37 hours per week based at any of our main UK locations. However, most projects will be based at our Haslar site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
