As a Workplace Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring workplaces across the QinetiQ estate are effectively supported, efficient and equipped to support the growing onsite presence of our staff. Acting as the operational link between Real Estate, Facilities Management, Operations, Heads of Site, Project Delivery, HSE, IT/OT, and business/programme stakeholders, the Workplace Manager fosters cross‑functional collaboration, aligning the workplace environment with corporate and departmental objectives, user requirements and evolving ways of working. Day‑to‑day, you’ll lead on coordinating workplace change (moves, reconfigurations, refurbishments), and drive space optimisation, resilience, service quality and sustainability within mixed use office environments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day‑to‑day management of workplace environments ensuring they are safe, compliant, and operating efficiently.
- Maintain a consistent standard of service delivery across all sites, ensuring workplace issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
- Implement workplace strategies that support organisational goals, new ways of working, and employee experience.
- Analyse occupancy and utilisation data to recommend improvements, optimise space, and drive cost‑effective estate decisions.
- Act as the central point of contact for business leaders, Estates Strategy, Facilities Operations, HR, IT, and other partners.
- Ensure all workplace environments comply with statutory, regulatory, and internal standards.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in workplace management, facilities management, estates operations, or a similar environment‑focused role.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering workplace change initiatives (e.g., relocations, reconfigurations, refurbishments).
- Experience analysing workplace, utilisation, or performance data to inform decision‑making.
- Strong track record of engaging with stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Ability to drive supplier accountability and continuous improvement.
- Strong awareness of statutory and regulatory workplace requirements.
Essential Qualifications
- Accreditation in, or strong working knowledge of, workplace health, safety, and compliance requirements. Ideally NEBOSH or IOSH.
- Project management experience; a formal qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM) is beneficial but not essential.
- Professional qualifications in workplace, FM, or estates management are desirable (e.g., IWFM).
